The Nature of the Beast:
1. Space is King:
Where you raised 1000 Guppies, you can barely keep 10 adult Oscars. This business requires serious infrastructure – large concrete ponds or huge (4ft-6ft) glass tank systems. It's not apartment-friendly business.
2. The Feeding Cost:
Oscars are bottomless pits. To grow them fast and bulky, you need kilos of high-protein food (chicken heart, shrimp, superworms, premium pellets). Your daily running costs will be significantly higher than small fish.
3. Massive Waste = Massive Filtration:
They eat like pigs and poop like pigs. Standard sponge filters won't cut it. You need heavy-duty industrial Sump Systems or giant Canister filters to handle the biological load.
So, Why Do It? (The Opportunity)
• Evergreen Demand: Because they interact with humans like dogs, there is always a high demand for healthy, well-grown Oscars.
• High Value for Patience: A 2-inch baby is cheap, but a 10-12 inch "Jumbo Size" Monster Oscar commands a premium price. If you have the patience to grow them, the payoff is big.
